a durable synthetic resin widely used in adhesives and paints
Polyesters made from dicarboxylic acids and diols, primarily used as coatings, modified with vegetable oil, fatty acids, etc.
Resin formed by the condensation of polyhydric alcohols with polybasic acids. May be regarded as complex polyester ( thermoset). Widely used in general purpose coatings.
A modified polyester-type resin used widely in the coatings field. Alkyd resin coatings are outstanding in their weather resistance.
A type of polyester resin used in paints and other surface coatings. The original alkyd resins were made by co-polimerising phathalic anhydride with glycerol, to give a brittle cross. Linked polymer.
Polyester resins made with some fatty acid as a modifier. See Polyester, Fatty Acid.
Resins prepared by reacting alcohols and fatty acids. Widely used in relatively low cost, low performance paints and coatings. General Polymers does not provide alkyd coatings at this time.
