Anaxagoras (Greek: Αναξαγόρας, c. 500 BC–428 BC) was a pre-Socratic Greek philosopher. He was a member of what is now often called the Ionian School of philosophy.

Anaxagoras is a young lunar impact crater that is located near the north pole of the Moon. It lies across the larger and more heavily worn Goldschmidt crater. To the south-southeast is Epigenes crater, and due south is the worn remains of Birmingham crater.
