Definitions for "Aperiodic"
1. Not periodic. 2. Applied to an instrument in which the indicator moves to a new position without oscillating.
Non-oscillating. Applied for example, to the need of an instrument, usually a compass, which is so designed that, after a slight lag, it indicates the correct reading with no over-swing.
Refers to a type of bass-cabinet loading. An aperiodic enclosure type usually features a very restrictive, (damped), port. The purpose of this restrictive port is not to extend bass response, but lower the Q of the system and reduce the impedance peak at resonance. Most restrictive ports are heavily stuffed with fiberglass, dacron or foam.
Refers to the lack of symmetry in molecular structures or functions. An important insight into the mechanism of biological structures is their aperiodic composition and distribution of atoms causing the extraordinary complexity of cells.
