In Marvel Comics Araki is the prime minister of the imperial Shi'ar and the Lord Chancellor to the the empress, who is currently Lilandra. Araki defended the shi'ar throne against an impending coup, this event cos him his life at the hands of the rebels leader. This was not the end of Araki.
