Definitions for "ASSISTANT EDITOR"
An assistant editor serves under the managing editor or editor in chief. The generally take over some of their duties, such as managing writers or making story assignments. Often they are assigned a specific section within a publication or broadcast. If so, they may also be called a section editor.
The next step after Editorial Assistant, usually it involves more editing and/or writing responsibilities, but not always.
Important duties include receiving Script Supervision Notes, Camera Reports and Sound Reports from the Script Supervisor, (First Assistant Cameraman and Production Sound Mixer) with or prior to dailies and noting any missing circled takes and immediately orders them after confirming that they were called for.
