Used to describe polymers in which the side chains are randomly distributed on either side of the polymer backbone.
A random arrangement of pendant groups on a polymeric chain.
A polymer is atactic if the groups attatched to the backbone are not arranged in any regular geometric pattern. Also see Isotactic.
