Atreyu is a Metalcore band, consisting of Alex Varkatzas, guitarists Dan Jacobs and Travis Miguel, bassist Marc McKnight and drummer/vocalist Brandon Saller. The band was originally named "Retribution" but later changed their name to "Atreyu" after the character from The Neverending Story of the same name.

Atreyu is a fictional character in Michael Ende's novel, The Neverending Story and the movie series of the same name directed by Wolfgang Petersen. To the viewer/reader, he is a metafictional character who becomes a fictional character as he exists for real in the story.
