Bitterfeld is a district in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It is bounded by (from the north and clockwise) the city of Dessau, the district of Wittenberg, Delitzsch (Saxony) and the districts of Saalkreis and Köthen.

Bitterfeld is a town in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, capital of the district Bitterfeld. It is situated approx. 25 km south of Dessau, and 30 km northeast of Halle (Saale). During the GDR years, it gained notoriety for its chemical industry complex which caused remarkably severe pollution even for GDR standards.
