Definitions for "Breakpoints"
A marked location in a program, usually set with a debugger or an equivalent tool, where the program will halt execution so that the programmer can examine the values of its variables, parameters, settings, etc.
Mutual funds with front-end loads, or a sales charge, enable investors to reduce front-end sales charges as the amount of that investment increases to certain levels called "breakpoints". Each prospectus will have details on the breakpoints used to reduce the front-end sales charge. Back
The dollar amount at which many mutual funds offer reduced sales charges (or "loads") to investors. The amount of a discount varies, depending upon the amount of the investment. The higher the level of investment, the greater the likelihood of a breakpoint discount and the greater the discount.
