The Condition"Buerger's disease is characterized by narrowing or blockage (occlusion) of the veins and arteries of the extremities, resulting in reduced blood flow to these areas (peripheral vascular disease)..."
A peripheral vascular disorder in which there is granulomatous infiltration of the arteries, predominantly in the lower limbs.
A serious disease of unknown cause that leads to blockage of the small and medium arteries -- usually in the legs and feet. Smoking, exposure to cold, or any form of physical or emotional stress are important factors that make Buerger's disease more likely to occur.
Blockage of medium-sized blood vessels in the hands and feet by clotting and inflammation. This process causes severe pain and may lead to gangrene.
A disease of the arteries and veins characterized by pain, color changes, and coldness in the fingers and toes; results from thickening of the walls of blood vessels. Smoking worsens Buerger's disease.
a condition which affects heavy cigarette smokers, whereby the tiny blood vessels supplying the feet and hands become blocked. Buerger's Disease often results in amputation if not properly treated.
The Condition"...In addition, affected individuals may have sores (ulcers) on the extremities, numbness and tingling and a lack of normal blood flow to the fingers and/or toes when exposed to cold temperatures ( Raynaud's Phenomenon), and/or inflammation and clotting of certain veins (thrombophlebitis)..."
Thrombosis with a variable degree of associated inflammation of the small arteries and veins of the extremities particularly the lower limbs and complicated by ischaemic changes in the affected areas.
Buerger's disease (also known as thromboangiitis obliterans) is an acute inflammation and thrombosis (clotting) of arteries and veins of the hands and feet. It is strongly associated with use of tobacco products, primarily from smoking, but also from smokeless tobacco. This should not be confused with Berger's disease, an unrelated condition.
