Definitions for "Cessor"
One who neglects, for two years, to perform the service by which he holds lands, so that he incurs the danger of the writ of cessavit. See Cessavit.
In English law, a cessor was one dilatory, negligent, and delinquent in his duty or service, and who thereby incurred the danger of the law, and was liable to have the writ of cessavit brought against him. Where it was said the tenant cesseth, it was meant that he ceased to do his duty, or service to which he was bound.
