The portion of a facility being heated, cooled, humidified, dehumidified, or otherwise controlled to maintain desired conditions.
The space within a building which is heated or cooled by an active space heating system.
A space is conditioned if heating and/or cooling is deliberately supplied to it or is indirectly supplied through uninsulated surfaces of water or heating equipment, uninsulated ducts, or uninsulated floors, ceilings, or walls between it and another conditioned space. For example, a basement is conditioned if: it has registers or heating devices designed to supply heat, the basement ceiling is not insulated and the space above it is conditioned, or the space contains uninsulated ducts or uninsulated surfaces of water heaters or space heating equipment.
A conditioned space is the part of the building that is designed to be thermally conditioned for the comfort of occupants or for other occupancies or for other reasons.
A heated or cooled space, or both, within a building and, where required, provided with humidification or dehumidification means so as to be capable of maintaining a space condition falling within the comfort envelope per ASHRAE 55.
