An area at the top of a window in the OPEN LOOK GUI that contains the buttons and menu buttons.
An electric system bounded by transmission lines that are equipped with metering and telemetry equipment to track and report power flows with adjacent control areas. A control center for each control area controls the operation of generation within its portion of the transmission grid, schedules interchanges with other control areas, and helps to stabilize the frequency of alternating current in the interconnection. Control centers are currently operated by individual utilities or power pools and in the future may be operated by an ISO or POOLCO.
In DVD terms, a portion of the Lead-In area that contains a single ECC block, containing key disc data, repeated 16 times.
An electric power system, or a combination of electric power systems, to which a common automatic generation control (AGC) is applied to match the power output of generating units within the area to demand. The control area of the ISO is the state of California.
a region which in every possible way is similar to the actual project impact area except that it lacks the project intervention and is not expected to be affected by it
An electric system or systems, bounded by interconnection metering and telemetry, capable of controlling generation to maintain its interchange schedule with other Control Areas and contributing to frequency regulation of the Interconnection.
Legal definition under section 27. (1) of the Health of Animals Act, and referred to in the Ministerial declaration. Contains the infected zone(s), the surveillance zone, +/- the buffer zone and will initially contain disease free zones (see diagram below). Once the limits of the outbreak have been confidently defined, after all exposed and contact premises have been investigated, the control area may be shrunk to new limits up to the outer limits of the surveillance zone (+/- the buffer zone) depending on application of zoning(regionalization).
A bigger area than a restricted area, possibly as big as the state initially, where restrictions will reduce the chance of the disease spreading further afield; the control area may be reduced in size as confidence regarding the extent of the outbreak becomes clearer but it must remain consistent with OIE codes; in principle, animals and specified products may only be moved out of the control area into the free area by permit.
Electric power system, or combination of systems with common, automatic generation control. Detroit Edison and Consumers Energy operate a combined control area under an electric coordination agreement, commonly known as the Michigan Electric Coordinated System (MECS). The control area is responsible for: Matching the control area's internal generation and external purchases to the load at all times Maintaining scheduled interchange with other control areas Maintaining the frequency of the electric power system(s) Providing sufficient generation capacity to maintain operating reserves
A power system or systems to which an automatic control is applied.
an electrical region that regulates its generation in order to balance load and maintain planned interchange schedules with other [control areas] and assists in controlling the frequency of the interconnected system in accordance with WSCC and NERC criteria
Regulation of the annual or periodic yield to an area over which felling are prescribed. ( BCFT modif.). Syn. Area regulation; Method by area.
The area including the turnstiles and ticket booth, where passengers pay their fares. French: zone de contrôle.
A part of the lead-in area on a DVD containing one ECC block (16 sectors) repeated 192 times. The repeated ECC block holds information about the disc.
An electric power system or combination of electric power systems to which a common automatic control scheme is applied in order to: (1) match, at all times, the power output of the generators within the electric power system(s) and capacity and energy purchased from entities outside the electric power system(s), with the load in the electric power system(s); (2) maintain, within the limits of Good Utility Practice, scheduled interchange with other Control Areas; (3) maintain the frequency of the electric power system(s) within reasonable limits in accordance with Good Utility Practice; and (4) provide sufficient generating capacity to maintain operating reserves in accordance with Good Utility Practice.
A region on the electricity transmission grid in which supply and demand are kept in balance through generation dispatch decisions by the system operator. Most of the Ontario transmission system operates as a single control area operated by the IMO.
