Definitions for "Cording"
Narrow, corded piping inserted into a seam.
A length of decorative trim sewn on within the seams or around the edges of an item. Often made of braided or twisted yarns. Can also be made of yarns that have been woven into a tubular shape and filled with a fiber core for shape retention.
A soft cord folded into a narrow bias-cut piece of fabric that is stitched into a seam to provide decorative embellishment. Very similar to piping Corduroy A cotton fabric with distinctive vertical rows of soft pile. These rows, referred to as cords or wales, can vary in width. Pinwale is the thinnest and wide wale is the thickest. From the French phrase corde du roi, or "king's cord," corduroy once uniformed Louis XIV's outdoor servants. Today, it is a popular sportswear fabric ideal for pants and sport coats.
In animal grooming, cording is a technique in which dog coats are teased patiently into dreadlocks for coat care or presentation purposes. Some dog breeds that are often corded are the Puli and the Komondor. The Havanese is also occasionally corded for showing.
