Definitions for "COUNTER ELECTROMOTIVE FORCE"
The induced voltage in a motor armature, caused by conductors moving through or "cutting" field magnetic flux. This induced voltage opposes the armature current and tends to reduce it.
(counter emf) Voltage induced into an inductor due to an alternating or pulsating current. Counter emf is always in polarity opposite to that of the applied voltage. Opposing a change of current.
The voltage induced in a wire by self-induction which opposes the applied voltage. Also called back emf.
