Collection of related, contiguous data (set of related data elements). In a GIS, this is often the attributes associated with a spatial entity.
Related data that are read from, or written to, the database as a unit.

The information in a database for a person, product, event, and so on. The database record is made up of individual fields for each information item.

Traditional databases are organized by fields, records, and files. A field is a single piece of information; a record is one complete set of fields; and a file is a collection of records
