A preset temperature range across which conditioned spaces are neither heated nor cooled. In this temperature range, the HVAC system provides ventilation only.
(Measurement and Inspection) Deadband refers to the region where the sensor cannot make measurements. For example, the deadband of the Q45U ultrasonic sensor is 100 mm. That is, the output is unusable when a target is in this deadband area. Mounting hardware should be positioned so that the intended target is always within the measuring range.
A range of input values that is ignored by a response as being insignificant, generally to avoid too-frequent reactions. For example, an alarm may be set up with a deadband so that the alarm is triggered only if a change is significant.
Deadband is an area of a signal range or band where no action occurs (the system is dead). Deadband is used in voltage regulators, thermostats, and alarms. The purpose is common, to prevent oscillation or repeated activation-deactivation cycles (called 'hunting' in proportional control systems).
