Definitions for "DIETS"
The caloric, nutritional and textural make-up of the food served each resident. A soft diet is designed to meet the needs of residents who have difficulty with chewing. It might include foods such as chopped or ground meat. A pureed diet is used for residents who have impaired chewing and/ or gag reflex. This diet is a modification in texture and consistency of the regular diet or any other appropriate therapeutic diet. Foods are blenderized with added broth or other liquids as necessary.
Regular course of eating and drinking adopted by a person or animal. This does not include diet therapy which is a specific diet prescribed in the treatment of a disease.
