Definitions for "EFFECTIVE HALF-LIFE"
The effective half-life is a measurement based on both the physical and biological half-lives of a radioisotope. It is the time required to reduce the radioactivity in a tissue or organ by 50 percent, taking both physical and biological half-life into account.
ratio of physical half-life x biological half-life/ physical half-life + biological half-life.
the time required for the amount of a radionuclide deposited in a living organism to be diminished by 50% as a result of the combined action of radioactive decay and biologic elimination. See also biological half-life, decay constant, radioactive half-life.
