Definitions for "Emergency Medical Condition"
A medical condition manifesting itself by an acute symptom of sufficient severity, including sever pain, such that the absence of immediate medical attention could reasonably be expected to result in placing the health of the individual in serious jeopardy, serious impairment to bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part.
42 CFR §422.113] Means a medical condition manifesting itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that a prudent layperson, with an average knowledge of health and medicine, could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in: Serious jeopardy to the health of the individual or, in the case of a pregnant woman, the health of the woman or her unborn child; Serious impairment to bodily functions; or Serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part.
