A designation of the relative efficiency of a property. In a larger sense, the rating would also include a prioritized energy improvement recommendation, estimates of energy and dollar savings, and documentation of efficiency and savings for the loan file if completed in conjunction with energy-efficient mortgages.
The energy rating offers consumers a standardised method of choosing the most efficient appliances which also give good performance. The scale is from A - G. (A) represents a very high efficiency and (G) represents a less efficient performance.
A scale rating the comparative performance of windows based on three factors: 1) solar heat gains; 2) heat loss through frames, spacer and glass; 3) air leakage heat losses.
Energy Rating is a value developed by the Canadian Standards Association to compare the overall thermal efficiency of windows. The higher the ER, the more efficient the overall window (frame, glass, spacer & air leakage). Used to indicate that a window contains a fixed sash (a sash that does not open). See Fixed Window.
