The Eora (sometimes spelt Iora or Iyora) people were the Aboriginal occupants of the Sydney region in 1788 before the first European colonists arrived. Before European colonization, Australian Aborigines had lived for 40,000 years undisturbed in a primitive hunter gatherer lifestyle.
