a collection of blood between the dura and the inner surface of the skull, and is usually due to arterial bleeding
a collection of blood between the dura mater and the skull resulting from arterial or venous injury
a hematoma located above (epi) the dura, usually from an arterial source
a hematoma outside the dura, which is usually associated with a skull fracture
a localized swelling of the dura mater (the outermost membrane covering of the brain and spinal cord, separated from them by a small space) filled with blood
a pocket of blood that forms immediately outside the dura mater
a hematoma (swelling or mass of blood usually clotted) above the dura mater, usually arterial, except in the posterior fossa.
A blood clot between the dura mater and the inside of the skull.
a collection of spilled blood between the skull and dura mater; also called an extradural hematoma
bleeding into the area between the skull and the dura.
Epidural or extradural hematoma is a buildup of blood occurring between the dura mater (the brain's tough outer membrane) and the skull. Often due to trauma, the condition is potentially deadly because the buildup of blood may increase pressure in the intracranial space and compress delicate brain tissue. 15 to 20% of patients with epidural hematomas die of the injury.Sanders MJ and McKenna K. 2001.
