Definitions for "Feldgrau"
"Field Grey" - term used to describe the ordinary German soldier - from the colour of his tunic.
Feldgrau was the colour of the German Army field uniform from the late 1907 until 1945, as well as some post-war types of uniform of Bundeswehr and NVA of Western and Eastern Germanies. It was also a term which was metaphorically used to refer to the German armies (the Kaiserheer and the army (Heer) component of the Reichswehr and Wehrmacht). The word means "field gray," and by World War I the color was a light grey-green.
