In the European patent system, the patent is awarded to the first person to file an application on that invention independent of who was the first to invent. The applicant who is the first to file an application for an invention will be awarded the patent over all others. This is the present law in all countries other than the USA and the Philippines.

In the European patent system, the applicant who is the first to file an application for an invention will be awarded the patent over all others.
