The equivalent of one person working full time for one year (2000 worker hours per year). For example two persons working half time count as one FTE.
The percentage of full-time employment shown as a decimal. For example, a person appointed to work 20 hours per week, or at 50%, would be shown as 0.5 FTE.
FTEs measure the number of equivalent students enrolled if all students (full- and part-time) were to take a "normal" course load. For undergraduate students, a normal course load is the load required to complete a full degree, normally the equivalent of four winter sessions, and is therefore determined by a given program and year level. The figures used in this plan are annualized.
(FTE) - The percentage of full-time employment. For hourly paid personnel, the FTE is used in the generation of time reports to calculate the number of hours to assign on the report. For salaried personnel, it is not used for hours calculation but rather just to show a general distribution of time and effort that equates to the distribution of cost.
This is the portion of full-time effort expected to be expended by an appointment.
One FTE equals one Extension employee working 228 work days.
Calculated number of faculty, students or employees that equates the number of hours worked or the number of credit courses to a full-time basis. For employment purposes, 2080 hours of employee work is one FTE, regardless of the actual number of employees involved. For student enrollment, 30 credit hours is one FTE.
An index number where 1.00 represents what is acknowledged to be the equivalent of a standard load carried by a person who is devoting full time effort to those activities.
A calculation equal to the sum of credits carried divided by a divisor dependent on the student's classification. The divisor is 15 for undergrads, undergrad specials, law, and pharmacy students. The divisor is 12 for masters, education specialist, and graduate special students. The divisor is 7 for Ph.D. students. All medical and veterinary students are counted as one FTE.
The equivalent of a full time person on staff. For example, if ten people work 25% of the time, that is equivalent to 2.5 full time people.
