eneric low ontrol - The first four bits of an ATM cell header. Manages traffic flow to the ATM network by controlling the user-network interface.
The first four bits of the first byte in an ATM cell header. Used to control the flow of traffic across the User-to-Network Interface (UNI), and thus into the network. Exact mechanisms for flow control are still under investigation and no explicit definition for this field exists at this time. (This field is used only at the UNI; for NNI-NNI use (between network nodes), these four bits provide additional network address capacity, and are appended to the VPI field.)
A field in the ATM header which can be used to provide local functions (for example, flow control). It has local significance only and the value encoded in the field is not carried end-to-end.
Gel filtration chromatography. This is size-exclusion chromatography carried out with aqueous mobile phases, also known as aqueous GPC. It generally refers to separations carried out on soft gels such as polydextrans. Most gel filtration separations involve biopolymers and are used for the separation and characterization of polymers.
