Grozny or Groznyy (; Chechen: Соьлж-ГIала, ) is the capital of the Chechen Republic in Russia. The city lies on the Sunzha River. According to the 2002 All-Russia population census, the city had a population of 210,720 people (a little more than half of the population a decade before).
