A paper of many uses as it is durable, thin, light, and inexpensive. used for calligraphy writing, account books, etc. Sekishu (from Shimane) and suruga (from Shizuoka) hanshi have been famous since ancient times. Now, mozo (imitation) and kairyo (improved) hanshi made from wood pulp and a mixture of other materials are produced. Standard sizes are 24–26 × 32.5–35 cm.
