Throwing a number the Hard Way is referring to the fact that is is much harder to throw a pair then it is to throw just the total score of a pair. For example there is many different combinations of throwing 4 - the hard way of throwing a 4 is throwing a pair of 2's - whereas the easy way could be throwing a 1+3 or any other combination. Please visit my page about probabilities in craps if you do not understand this. The craps table offers you the choice of betting on 4 different hard way combinations - a hard 4 (2+2) - a hard 6 (3+3) - a hard 8 (4+4) and a hard 10 (5+5). If you make a hard bet you win if that pair is thrown before a seven is rolled.
A long-shot bet, such as two 3's to make a 6, or two 4's to make an 8, etc.
The craps term for a rolling a 4, 6, 8, or 10 in pairs.
Converting the 2-7 or 3-10 split by knocking the front pin into the back pin. (The standard way of converting is to hit both pins with the ball.)
Picking up a spare in the non-traditional method. For example, the 3-10 split is best picked up by fitting the ball between the 3 and 10 pins; it can also be picked the "hard way" by hitting the 3 pin left of center and deflecting it into the 10 pin. Some times it refers to getting a Dutch 200 game...i.e., getting a 200 score the "hard way".
A bet on 4, 6, 8, or 10 that wins only if the dice show the same face; e.g., "hard 8" occurs when each die shows a four.
Real blood produced by means other than blading, i.e. the hard way. One of the possible outcomes of a shoot.
