Hardfacing: A term used to describe a Thermal Spray deposit applied with the intention to reduce wear. Can sometimes be referred to as a wear resistant coating.

The application of a cladding or coating of material designed to resist wear.
This is the process used to build up O.H.C. type and most motor cycle camshafts. The original profile is ground back and a layer is placed over the top - the camshaft is then trimmed and finish ground.
