A hadeeth is termed “hasan†or “good†if it is reliable but does not reach the level of saheeh. A hadeeth can be classed hasan for two reasons: (i) because it contains a reporter who was not prominently reported from, but is not totally careless in his reporting, provided that a similar text is reported through another isnad as well; (ii) the isnad contains a reporter who is known to be truthful and reliable, but is a degree less in his preservation/memorisation of hadeeth than the reporters of saheeh ahadeeth.
"fine", used for a hadeeth which is authentic but does not reach the higher category of saheeh.

Hasan is the Arabic word for good and by extension beautiful or admirable. In Islamic context, it is a the categorization of a hadith's authenticity as "acceptable". Other categorizations include sound (as in, of mind), weak and fabricated.
Hasan or Hassan, is an Arabic name that means "handsome and goodness".
