Heimdall (Old Norse Heimdallr, the prefix Heim- means home, the affix -dallr is of uncertain origin but it means valley) is one of the Æsir in Norse mythology.
Heimdall is a fictional character in the Marvel Comics universe, based loosely on the god Heimdall of Norse myth. He first appeared in a comic in Journey Into Mystery vol. 1 #85.
Born by nine sisters, little is known of him. As Rig he gave humans the class structure of thralls, freemen and jarls.
