The immunological characteristic of cells or tissue that causes them to be tolerated by another cell or tissue; that allows some tissues to be grafted effectively to others.
Pertaining to a genetic state in which cells from two animals can be cross-transplanted without immunological rejection. The opposite of histoincompatible. Histocompatibility is controlled predominantly by genes in the Major Histocompatiblity Complex or MHC.
