Definitions for "IMPLAN"
The input-output model used by the USDA Forest Service to estimate economic effects by tracing the interrelationships between producers and consumers in an economy as measured by jobs and income
IMPLAN (IMpact analysis for PLANning) is a computer-based, input-output model that calculates the total economic impact of a particular activity such as cultural tourism. It can also be used to estimate the dollar impact of changes in the level of an activity. IMPLAN generates region-specific multipliers that reflect the indirect and induced spending effects of cultural tourism. It does so by constructing a matrix that traces purchasing and spending between industrial sectors affected by cultural tourism within the region.
