Objects that intertwine are tied together by a series of twists. A strand of DNA, for example, appears to be two intertwining lines. Intertwined may also be used metaphorically to describe two things that are equally and harmoniously combined with each other either chemically or otherwise. lacing is a form of intertwining, as is braiding and wiring.
