In stud games, your unexposed cards. In community games, when exposing cards, the cards you don't share with your opponent are live cards. For instance, when heads up, AK vs. A9, the K and 9 are live cards (the ace helps both players, so any aces that show up in the community cards help both players equally).
In Stud Game, cards that have not yet been seen and are presumed to still be in play.
