Every planning authority has a development plan and they are the key to development control. Generally, counties have adopted structure plans and districts have local plans that fit in with them in a two-tier structure. London boroughs and metropolitan districts are called unitary authorities and have unitary development plans (UDPs). You can inspect the current plan at the council offices, or buy a copy.
