An LPO is considered a high risk option and may adversely affect the time in which a vehicle is built, as LPO options are often kept in very short supply by the manufacturer. Currently only used by Ford and Chrysler. Chrysler LPO's are only available to fleet customers. Ford LPO's are available to both fleet and retail customers.
Local Purchase Orders are used by government departments to purchase goods that are not available under a previously awarded contract or from the department's Central Stores Warehouse and can be used for purchases up to $1,500 (not including tax and shipping).
