Definitions for "Ménière's disease"
A disease characterized by deafness and vertigo, resulting in incoordination of movement. It is supposed to depend upon a morbid condition of the semicircular canals of the internal ear. Named after Ménière, a French physician.
pathology of the inner ear (cochlea) resulting in a characteristic pattern of symptoms that often include: sensorineural hearing loss that may fluctuate, tinnitus (ringing in the ear), intermittent vertigo or dizziness, and the sensation of ear fullness.
A condition characterised by the triad of paroxysmal vertigo, persistent unilateral tinnitus and progressive low-frequency sensorineural hearing loss. It is thought to result from overdistension of the membraneous endolymphatic system and degeneration of cochlear cells. It may be self-limiting or may lead to total deafness.
