The mako is an action song from Tonga, danced by young men who have the stamina to keep up with it. On the beat of an extremely fast beaten drum or tin can the men perform wild gestures involving their whole body. They may point up with their hands, then point down, run forwards, sit down, lay down, roll, up again, repeat it all, and so forth.
