Definitions for "microphonics"
The noise caused by mechanical excitation of a system component. In a single-connector microphone, for example, microphonics can be caused by the shield rubbing against the dielectric, as the cable is flexed.
Noise in an audio system, often caused by flexing of a cable and consequent rubbing of its insulation against its conductors or shield.
Microphonics describes the phenomenon where certain components in electronic devices transform mechanical vibrations into an undesired electrical signal (noise). The term is derived by analogy to real microphones where that behavior is intended rather than inadvertent.
The science which treats of the means of increasing the intensity of low or weak sounds, or of the microphone.
