Old term for a large group of non-psychotic disorders characterized by unrealistic anxiety and other associated problems, for example, phobic avoidances, obsessions, and compulsions. See anxiety disorders.
Mental disorders presumed to have psychodynamic origins existing toward the mild to moderate end of a spectrum of mental illnesses in the biopsychosocial paradigm.
