ancient Greek sculptor (circa 500-432 BC)

One of the greatest Greek sculptors, working mainly in Athens between c.460 and c.430 BCE. He is best known for the designs of the Parthenon sculptures, which mostly survive, and the Olympian Zeus (one of the seven wonders of the ancient world), which does not.
