The term for very small holes found in aluminum foil which dramatically affects MVTR (moisture vapor transmission rate) and OTR (oxygen transmission rate). Thicker foiles have fewer pinholes.
The defect is the appearance of small holes in dried paint film. The problem is most probably caused by too thick a coat trapping solvents into the film, or by air bubbles. The defect may be due to not cleaning the surface before painting, using the wrong solvents in spray painting or incorrect air pressure. The problem can be solved by addressing the above causes.

Paint defect, often caused by air bubbles, which pits the painted surface, most commonly when paint is sprayed. The trapped air bubbles break, leaving a small hole in the paint surface. Slowly evaporating solvents can also cause this problem. Multiple coats of paint help to prevent it.
