Definitions for "Powerslave"
Powerslave is the fifth studio album by the British heavy metal band Iron Maiden, released on 3 September 1984. It is notable for its Egyptian theme displayed in the album art. It contains a musical re-telling of Samuel Taylor Coleridge's "Rime of the Ancient Mariner", which uses pieces of the original poem as lyrics, and is the longest song Iron Maiden have ever recorded at a length of 13 minutes and 38 seconds.
"Powerslave" is the title track on fifth album by heavy metal band Iron Maiden. It opens with a dark, powerful riff (regarded highly by many fans) and is an epic heavy metal tale about the demise of an Egyptian pharaoh. The use of Egyptian imagery and allusions to mythology is allegorical for vocalist Bruce Dickinson's spiteful outlook on the music industry, and how their greed and disrespect for talent leads to their own demise.
