A hadeeth is termed “saheeh” if it is reliable and authentic, i.e. can be rigorously authenticated as being the words of the Prophet (saws). Technically, a saheeh hadeeth is one which has a continuous isnad, made up of reporters of trustworthy memory from similar authorities, and which is found to be free from any irregularities (in the text) or defects (in the chain of narration).
