A diagnostic method. A radioactive tracer is injected into the body. The radiation it sends out produces flashes of light on a scintillator, and they are recorded. By scanning the body, section by section, a pattern is built up.
A diagnostic technique which produces a two-dimensional image of a desired anatomical structure or region with the use of radionuclides.
A diagnostic technique in which a two-dimensional picture of a bodily radiation source is obtained by the use of radioisotopes.
The production of 2-D images of the distribution of radioactivity in tissues after the internal administration of radionuclide
A technique where radio-labeled technetium is injected intravenously into a horse. A gamma camera is used to record uptake of the nucleotide in the tissues. It is particularly useful diagnostically to localize an area of inflammation in the musculoskeletal system. The most common radioisotope used to image bones is technetium-99m.
a radioisotope study which labels functioning renal tubules i
Scintigraphy is a technique where the patient is injected with or swallows a mildly radioactive substance (Gallium, for example) and an image is made of the radiation. As different parts of the body take up the radioactive substance at different rates, this technique can show metabolic effects.
A diagnostic procedure using a radioactive agent with affinity for the tissue of interest followed by a whole body scan.
a diagnostic technique based on the detection of radiation emitted by radioactive substances injected into the body; also called radionuclide scanning
