Secure Digital cards are small memory devices that can be inserted into some electronic products, such as camcorders. They are used for storing digital media such as audio, video, or picture files.
"Secure Digital Card". A stamp-sized flash memory card. Since it is constructed without mechanical pieces, it is resilient against impact. SD cards can be overwritten and are commonly used for digital cameras and other electronic devices, for instance PDAs and Mp3 players. Reading and writing SD cards is much faster than for MultiMedia Cards (MMC). They also have additional security functions.
