Definitions for "Short form"
The proposed short form for 2000 will include seven subjects - age, sex, relationship, race, Hispanic origin, marital status and whether the home is rented or owned. All subjects are either specifically mandated or strongly implied by Federal law. Congress has enacted laws requiring the use of census data to determine how much Federal funding to allocate to states, cities, school districts, and other governmental units to administer a wide variety of important programs. All households in 2000 will be asked to fill out a short form.
In toponymy, the abbreviated or short version of a name. Examples: China, for People's Republic of China; Jordan, for The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Complementary term: long form.
